The Portability Promise
This note contains the full text of ArcGrid's portability commitment. It applies to every deployment of the Surface platform. It is not conditional on your subscription tier, your contract length, or how long you have been a customer.
The commitment
Your data is yours. All of it. You can export everything in the Surface at any time, without our assistance, in formats that do not require our software to read. This commitment has no expiration date.
- Task records, status history, and associated files
- Approval trails — every proposal and every commit, in full
- Wiki content and linked attachments
- Time logs with project and client attribution
- ArcFlow workflow definitions
- Channel and direct message history
- Client records and contact data
- JSON for all record types (complete data, machine-readable)
- CSV for tabular data — tasks, time logs, client records
- Markdown for all content — wiki pages, notes, message history
- YAML for workflow definitions
The exit runbook
If you decide to leave, here is how it works.

Open Settings → Export in your Surface instance and generate an export package. This takes minutes, not hours.

Download the archive. It includes all your data, in all supported formats, with a manifest listing every record included.

Verify completeness against the manifest. If anything is missing, contact us and we will fix it.

Decommission your Surface instance at any time. No notice period required.
What we do not do
- Proprietary formats that require our tools to read
- An export fee or gated export capability
- A minimum notice period before you can export
- A mandatory offboarding call or exit process
- Data held in escrow pending a transition fee
You should be able to leave. If we are not earning your continued use, the right answer is to make it easy for you to go — not to trap you. A platform that earns trust does not need lock-in to retain customers.
